Oral diseases affect individuals, families and communities. Poor oral health can make it difficult to get a job and keep a job. Poor oral health can contribute to lowered academic achievement and lowered academic goals. Poor oral health can mean missed school and lower grades according to a study appearing in the September 2012 issue of the American Journal of Public Health.
