People First of Missouri/Self Advocates Becoming Empowered/Missouri Planning Council for Development Disabilities

Cathy Enfield is a self-advocate who is actively involved with People First of Missouri and with Self Advocates Becoming Empowered at the national level. She was awarded the Anita Carroll Self-Advocate of the Year Award for 2005 by People First of Missouri and her advocacy efforts were further recognized in House Resolution 2836 this year.

Cathy is a 2004 graduate of Partners in Policymaking. She is also active with the Missouri “Get Out the Vote Project” and with The Alliance for Full Participation. Cathy is a lifelong resident of the Kansas City area. She currently lives in her own home in Independence and with the assistance of support staff is able to pursue her desire to help others by educating about and advocating for the rights of people with disabilities.
