Improving Oral Health
The Missouri Coalition for Oral Health's mission is to improve oral health with all Missourians by advocating for sound public policy. This bold mission will be accomplished through the dedication and hard work of concerned citizens.
We are supported by the Health Forward Foundation, the Missouri Foundation for Health, and the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.

OUR PRINCIPLES
How We Effect Change
The Coalition was reorganized in 2011 to support strategic work on policy related to oral health, hiring a new Executive Director, Gary Harbison.
We continue to be guided by these core principles:
- Oral health is integral to overall health
- All Missourians should have access to comprehensive, high-quality health care
- Our policy agenda is based on consensus
- We are committed to engaging Missourians to provide input and advocacy
- We advocate for positive change and improvement of oral health services and the health care system
RECENT SUCCESSES
Reimbursement Rate Increase
In 2022, the Missouri Coalition for Oral Health and their partners helped to successfully increase reimbursement rates for dental Medicaid to 80% of UCR. See why MO Medicaid Matters below.
RECENT SUCCESSES
Adult Dental Medicaid Coverage
In 2016 the Missouri Coalition for Oral Health and their partners helped to successfully expand MO HealthNet limited Adult Dental coverage, which had not been available since 2005.

Only 65% of Missourians report receiving dental care annually
30% of 3rd grade children across the state have untreated tooth decay.
Only 35% of Medicaid-eligible minors receive preventive dental services
More than 40% of disabled Missourians have untreated tooth decay.
20% of Missouri seniors have had all their permanent teeth extracted.
44% of adults have had at least one permanent tooth extracted from decay.
