Learning Objectives:
Enhance Integrated Care Models: Learners will understand the importance of integrating medical and dental care teams to improve patient outcomes and achieve the quadruple aim of quality.
Strategies for Addressing Oral Health in Primary Care: Learners will be able to identify strategies to promote interdisciplinary communication, shared decision-making, and coordinated care between medical and dental providers to achieve whole-person care.
Access to Care for Underserved Population: Learners will explore how integrated care aims to reduce health disparities and increase access to both medical and dental services in underserved communities.
Dr. Megan Krohn, DDS
Executive Vice President of Dental Services, Swope Health
Dr. Megan Krohn is responsible for the coordination and delivery of oral health services at all Swope Health locations. She is a general dentist and graduate of the UMKC School of Dentistry with Honors in Oral Surgery. She joined Swope Health in 2016 and has been instrumental in the dental department’s continued growth. Dr. Krohn is a member of the American Dental Association, Missouri Dental Association, the American Association of Public Health Dentistry, and serves as a delegate for the Greater Kansas City Dental Association. Dr. Krohn is also a member of the National Network for Oral Health Access through which she participates in multiple committees and acts as the program ambassador for the state of Missouri. In 2023, Dr. Krohn joined the Board of Directors of Delta Dental of Missouri. Her passion lies in creating access to oral health care through innovative programs, alternative care models, and integration of care. Personally, Dr. Krohn is mom to four young children who keep life in Kansas City, MO exciting and busy.
Shawn Oprisiu, BS, RDH, ECPIII, FADHA
Director of Dental Outreach, Swope Health
Shawn Oprisiu is a seasoned Public Health Dental Hygienist with over 20 years of experience in the field. Currently serving as the Director of Dental Outreach at Swope Health, Shawn leads a dedicated team of driven women who work tirelessly to provide dental services across the Kansas City metro area, spanning both Kansas and Missouri. With a deep passion for improving access to care, particularly for children in her community, Shawn is committed to ensuring that all young people have the opportunity to receive the dental care they need. Her work is a testament to her dedication to public health, community service, and advocacy for underserved populations.
