Lori Reed

Dental Medicaid Facilitator

Lori Reed serves as the Coalition’s most recent Dental Medicaid Facilitator. She started working for the State of Missouri, beginning with the Department of Economic Development as a Pharmacy Technician. She quickly moved over to the Department of Social Services, where she held several diverse roles. The last twenty years, Ms. Reed has been dedicated to working with the Managed Care Organizations (MCO) and Fee for Service (FFS) providers with a specialty in claims processing and system issues.  Ms. Reed helped initiate new programs such as Gateway to Better Health and PACE. She held an important role with the statewide managed care rollouts, with every contract to include claims processing, testing, and implementation. Ms. Reed recently retired but has returned to the workforce to assist dental providers with provider recruitment and retention. This will include collaboration with MO HealthNet (MHD) and the Missouri Dental Association (MDA), focusing on specialized care for the special needs population, educating dental students to increase participation after graduation, and working with Ambulatory Surgical Centers (ASC) and hospitals to increase access to their facilities for dental procedures. With this collaboration, the Coalition for Oral Health will also help to bring attention to the impact dental health has during pregnancy and to provide resources for parents and families.
